In order to make an international phone call, there are several pieces of information you need to know before you begin.

You must first know the international call prefix from the country you are dialing from. This code allows you to dial outside of the country you are calling from and is unique for each country. For USA, this prefix number is 011.

Then you have to know the country code you are dialing into. For example, country code for Bangladesh is 880.

You also have to know the city code. For some countries, they have city codes bases on different cities. Also, different mobile/ cell phone carrier uses city code strictly to their service not by the city, but we are going to treat this as the city code. They just use one code for all of their subscribers. If the city code/ mobile carrier code starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this starting digit when dialing the number.

Finally the number you want to call.

Now, let’s dial the number. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MOST PHONE COMPANIES INCLUDING CELL PHONE CARRIERS CHARGE A LOT OF MONEY FOR INTERNATIONAL CALLS. Check with your phone company before making international calls. You can also use Pinless calling card service to make calls for only fraction of what most phone companies charge. I will explain this later in this article.

Here is the format you can use to dial the international number from USA
International call prefix + Country code + City codes + The numberIf the city code starts with “0” (Zero), drop it.

For example, to make a call to Bangladesh land line to city Dhaka, dial as bellow.

The city code for “Dhaka” is 02, but we are going to skip the zero.
011+880+2+123456

Saving money on international calls

Now that you know how to place an international call, it's important to know how to save money on the call. Calling international can be very expensive if you do not use the right carrier.

I personally use gTalk Pinless calling card service. gTalk Pinless Calling Service offers low cost and cheap calling rates to BANGLADESH, INDIA, PAKISTAN and many more countries around the world.

I also have a Promotion Code (RSUUD2) you can use to receive $2.00 bonus when you sign-up.

Be sure to enter the Promotion Code: RSUUD2 otherwise, you will not receive $2.00 bonus

When using any service to make international calls other then gTalk, especially a calling card, make sure that you are aware of extra charges they might have (such as connection charges, or charges for unanswered calls). I found out that gTalk does not charges all of those nonsense, and you can review your calls and charges on their website. They have honest billing to the penny.

How does gTalk work?Unlike phone card, you don’t need a PIN # to use your phone card. You just dial to an access number from your home or cell phone and you will be connected to you account instantly. Then just dial the number you want to call.

You don’t need to dial 011 to make international calls with gTalk.

Just dial the country code + City code + The number.

For example, to make a call to Bangladesh land line to city Dhaka, dial as bellow.

The city code for “Dhaka” is 02, but we are going to skip the zero.
880+2+123456

By not dialing the International call prefix 011, you will be assured you are not using your phone carrier to make international calls and receive a surprised bill.

After sign-up, go to www.gtalk.us to login to your account. Some people type www.gTalk.com for gTalkPinless, but that is not the correct web address.
